Simple machines
What are simple machines?
A simple machine is a device that makes work easier by allowing it to push or pull over increased distances. The six simple machines are the pulley, wheel and axle, screw, inclined plane (or ramp), wedge, and lever. When two or more simple machines are put together, it is known as a compound machine. A compound machine is also used to make work easier. An example of a compound machine is a bicycle.
