Wedge: description:
Two inclined planes back to back that increases distance to decrease force. A wedge is used for splitting big objects into smaller ones
A wedge operates by converting motion in one direction into a splitting motion and increases distance that decreases force.
how does a wedge operate:
Your teeth are wedges too! They cut threw meat and other foods they chop down food to make it go down the throat to swallow the foods. In your teeth there are jagged edges that helps you eat your food or split into smaller pieces just like a wedge.
The first use of Wedges:
The wedge was first used by early humans and they made it with pointed sticks and stones used for hunting. The early humans made two basic wedges, the broad and flat ones like an axe and the round and pointed ones like the tip of an arrow. People learned how to make their own wedges by shaping rocks and sticks. Now they know how to make knives and blades.
wedges throughout history:
Throughout history the wedge was used for a lot of things for example, the early humans used the wedge for hunting,we use the wedge now as a door stopper, and we also use it to cut big pieces of things into smaller pieces.
